Maharaja Kala Jamun

Two large, dense dumpling—fried slow and dark till the outside is nearly black and deeply caramelised, then soaked in cardamom sugar syrup till heavy and saturated all the way through. Darker than a gulab jamun. Richer than you expect. Bigger than one person should probably eat alone.
